Director of Operations of the election taskforce of the Ghana Police, Chief Superintendent Benjamin Agbedzo who gave the advice said the police have gathered intelligence that some parties have decided to make their supporters stay after casting their vote to ensure fairness and justice which to him is not right even though the law does not bar that.

“It’s not right for anyone to bus people to the polling station. Doing that will create recipe for chaos. Political parties planning that will create confusion. It is the duty of the media to make people understand that it is a recipe for trouble and must be stopped” he noted.

Chief Supt Benjamin Agbedzo, speaking on Adom FM’s Morning Show, ‘Dwaso Nsem’ on Friday said the police have identified some flashpoints after careful study of the over 29,000 polling stations which would be used for the elections.

“We are not going to allow that. Electorate who are done with their vote cast and intending to stay would be driven home.

These gestures trigger violence and we don’t want that. I will prefer that we use this tangent to unite for peace.

“The law isn’t against busing people to polling station.

The fact that there is no law against it does not make it right. The violence we experienced during the limited voter registrations and the votes transfer has a lot to do with busing people to the station. Our patrol men are going to be around to drive people out of the place” he stated.

“If we advise people to stay at the polling station from morning to evening there will be chaos and so there is the need for them to return after 5pm” he noted.
