Ace broadcaster, Kwami Sefa-Kayi, host of Peace Fm Kokrokoo morning show is not left out in the so-called Special Voting Wahala. Sefa-Kayi on getting to his designated polling station in the Tema West constituency to cast his votes discovered that his name could not be found in the special voting register.

The Special Voting exercise which is an opportunity for registered voters who would not be disposed to vote on the general election day due to the role they play in the elections, to cast their votes, has been bedeviled by the problem of missing names.

Most of the electorate who are meant to benefit from the special voting include media personalities, security personnel, health professionals and electoral process officials. 127,000 registered voters were expected to cast their ballot in this year’s special voting exercise.

However, the problem of missing names has been a great setback in this year’s special voting. It has been reported that several security officers, journalists and even officials of the electoral commission are unable to find their names on the special voter’s list. About 34,000 voters were reportedly unable to cast their votes as there names were missing from the register.

To bridge the gap created by this problem, the special voting day which was initially scheduled for only Thursday, December 1, was continued on Sunday December 4. Despite the extension, so many special voters were still unable to cast their votes as they could not find their names in the voters register.

Speaking to Joy News on Sunday, Kwami Sefa-Kayi simply said, “my name has vanished”! Lamenting over the challenge of missing names, he indicated that he is not in the mess alone but with several other people.

According to the popular radio presenter, that was the second attempt he was making to cast his vote without his name being found. He however said that he may make another attempt on Wednesday, the general voting day.

Now, the only option left for the disappointed voters is for them to delve through polling stations, to see if they can find their names in any one of them and then vote there.
