The elections were to be held from February 21 to 24 but the party in a statement signed by its acting general secretary John Boadu explained the date is not favourable.

It said the decision to push the date forward was necessitated by “a number of compelling reasons, including some important commitments” of government, party members including its Members of Parliament which coincides with the date.

In view of that, it has fixed February 24 to 27 for the primaries in the various constituencies across the country.

“Notice is therefore served on all and sundry, especially the various Constituency Elections Committee (CEC), candidates, delegates and indeed every stakeholder of the party to act accordingly,” it said.

Positions to be contested for include Chairperson, 1st Vice Chairperson, 2nd Vice Chairperson, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, Organizer, Women Organizer, Nasara Coordinator.

With the exception of the constituency chairperson position which applicants are required to pay a non-refundable fee of GHC200, those contesting other positions will pay GHC100 as filling fees.

The mandate of the current executives for the various constituencies has expired.

Some legal actions have been initiated between some candidates ahead of the elections but Mr. Boadu at a news conference on February 12 assured “the party’s legal team led by Nana Obiri Boahen, the Deputy General Secretary, is competently handling these issues and making significant strides at resolving them.”
