How It Went Down At Sober Wake of the Fallen Hero [Photos]

The vigil was organised by Excellence in Broadcasting (EIB) network -Operators of Starr 103.5 FM, in partnership with Ghana Armed Forces. Late Mahama’s vigil amassed hundreds of sympathisers who thronged the Arakan Mess at Burma Camp to partake in the wake held in honour of the late Major Maxwell Adam Mahama, who was brutally murdered on Monday, May 29, 2017.

The wake which lasted for two hours was attended by a host of representatives of the Ghana Armed Forces. Government officials were also not scarce at the sober event.

As expected, attendees were solemn as they mourned with the family, the hero who lost is life while carrying out his duties. The sober event saw Friends and family, clad in black and red, converged at the mess hall amidst a morose atmosphere as mourners shed tears and voiced their sorrows.  So much pain and sorrow were expressed by many who were present at the vigil.

Late Mahama was given a state burial on June 9, 2017  at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra. His final funeral rites will be held at Bole, from 13th to 15th June 2017 and Tumu, from 16th to 18th June 2017 respectively. A Thanksgiving service will be held at Light House Chapel International, Qodesh, North Kaneshie-Accra on Sunday 11th June.

Police have intensified investigations on the matter especially following claims that the killing was an act of conspiracy masterminded by an assemblyman and illegal miners whose activities were being threatened by the soldier.

Over 40 suspects have been picked up and are in police custody for interrogations and further investigations. The late captain who was given a posthumous promotion to a Major was married with two kids.
