The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has dispatched a team of Policemen to the police post at Danfa, a facility constructed by residents of the peri-urban community located in the La-Nkwantanan District, after more than a year of incessant complaints by residents.

In February last year, residents of the area complained of increasing robbery attacks in the area, a situation they say is threatening their security.

When Citi News’ Farida Shaibu visited the area, some of the residents who spoke to her said they had lost properties worth thousands of cedis to robbers who often attack them in their homes at night or on their way home from town.

The frustrated residents, through an association, put up the Police post in the community to help curb these activities.

The Chief of the area initiated the process by converting two of his shops into a Police post, together with two rooms to serve as accommodation for the police officers.

But several months after the project, no police officer was posted there.

The former Greater Accra regional Police Commander, COP George Akuffo Dampare, visited the area and promised to intensify security checks while they work to assign their patrol and check point personnel to the Police station.

Subsequently the La-nkwantana Divisional Commander, DCOP Osabarima Oware Asare Pinkro has posted five policemen including a station officer to the facility.

The Vice President of the Association who spoke to Citi News, Samuel Sehie said he was satisfied with the development and expressed optimism that the availability of the police personnel will help curb the crime rate in the area since they won’t have to travel miles to make their complaints when attacked.
