His comment comes after it emerged that the agreement signed with Africa and Middle East Resources Investment Group’s (AMERI Energy) on February 10 agreement signed in 2015 was over-priced by $150million.

This was revealed by a 17-member committee chaired by popular New Patriotic Party (NPP) lawyer, Philip Addison under the instructions of the Energy minister Boakye Agyarko.

The committee also advised government to re-negotiate the power deal with UAE-based AMERI energy.

But on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday, John Jinapor said they had nothing to hide because “we followed due process before signing the agreement”.

He was, however, hurt the Energy Minister did not inform them about the Philip Addison committee for them to also make an input before coming public with its findings.

The former deputy Power Minister explained that the AMERI deal to rent 300MW of emergency power to fix a debilitating energy crisis had Parliamentary approval, went through all the procurement process thus they cannot be held responsible for any blunder.

Hon. Jinapor though President Akufo-Addo is entitled to review all power purchasing agreements, he should err on the side of caution.

“As far as I’m concerned, I did the right and legitimate things in accordance with the law so in the attempt to review, let’s do what is right in the overall interest of Ghana” he stated.

John Jinapor also pledged their commitment to assist the Energy Minister to ensure the power crisis ends permanently.
