You Cannot Win Election With Lies

President John Dramani Mahama rounded off his campaign tour of the Central Region last Friday with a message to the New Patriotic Party (NPP): “You cannot win the election with lies.”

He said he had a lot of faith in the Ghanaian electorate to decipher truth from lies and re-elect him for a second term.

At a massive rally at Kasoa, the NDC presidential aspirant said the NPP was mischievously claiming that the Kasoa interchange project had been overpriced.

Repeating what he said in February this year when he cut the sod for work on the project to begin, the President said the “political quantity surveyors” were only out to soil his name.

“If God says he will not make you a king, no matter what you do you will not be a king,” he told his opponents.

He added, “If you won’t praise me don’t destroy my name.”

President Mahama also stated that some people were claiming that the Kasoa interchange was their baby.

“If anybody tells you they brought this project, it is a lie. We campaigned with the project in 2012,” he told the supporters that gathered to listen to him.

He urged the people not to buy into the negative agenda of the opposition and continue to have confidence in the government to bring more development projects to the area.

President Mahama said he had not mentioned anywhere that the government had finished doing all the work expected of it.

He promised that Kasoa would be provided with a storm drain to check flooding in the area when he gets the nod for a second term.

Sign of victory

Looking at the large crowd, the President said it gave signals of the victory ahead of the NDC in the election.

He said the NPP was always left confused anytime they lost elections to the NDC.

President Mahama also addressed a rally at Nyanyano in the Gomoa East Constituency.

Tried and tested

The General Secretary of the NDC, Mr Johnson Asiedu-Nketiah, described the President as a tried-and-tested leader who the nation could rely on to accelerate the development process.

He disagreed with people who claimed President Mahama insulted Nana Akufo-Addo when he (the NDC flag bearer) said the NPP flag bearer was not a unifier.

He said what the President said was a fact no objective person would run away from.
