Woyome Saga: Amidu Is A Liar

Former Attorney General Martin Amidu has “lied” many times in the entire GHS51.2million Woyome judgment debt saga, Deputy Attorney General Dr Dominic Ayine has said.

“If anybody has told lies in this matter, Martin Amidu is the one who lied under oath and I’ve got all the false statements that he made under oath [up] to his affidavit.

“He lied that we had not taken any step [to retrieve the money], he lied that the Attorney General had represented Woyome and he keeps repeating that lie thinking that the lie will crystallise into the truth but it will never crystallise into the truth. So he is the one who is lying under oath to achieve his evil political agenda of tarnishing the image of his successor in office,” Dr Ayine told Emefa Apawu on Class91.3FM’s 505 News programme on Thursday, 17 November.

Dr Ayine also questioned Mr Amidu’s credibility as a citizen vigilante as far as his fight to retrieve the GHS51.2million fraudulently paid to Mr Woyome by the state is concerned.

“… By the way, if you are talking about people not being credible, his credibility is on the line and future generations will judge him as to whether he was a true citizen vigilante or he was just pursuing vigilante justice against a political foe,” Dr Ayine said.

The Supreme Court has granted permission to Mr Amidu to question Mr Woyome in court on the GHS51.2million judgment debt saga.

The apex court said both parties should reappear in court on 24 November. Mr Amidu filed an application to examine Mr Woyome about two weeks ago. He said in a statement: “…I have this morning, 4th November, 2016, filed an application at the Supreme Court for leave to examine the judgment debtor as the citizen public interest plaintiff in favour of whom the case was decided for the Republic of Ghana.”

Mr Amidu’s action followed a move by the Attorney General to discontinue oral examination of Mr Woyome.

The AG’s notice said: “Please take notice that the 1st Defendant Judgment Creditor [Attorney General] herein has this day [26th day of October 2016] discontinued the present application to orally examine the 3rd defendant Judgment Debtor [Alfred Agbesi Woyome] with liberty to reapply.”
