The strategy dubbed, “Operation Eagle Eye”, according to the party is intended to keep surveillance along the border communities by deploying its men on election day to prevent supposed Togolese voters from entering the region to vote.

John Peter Amewu, Volta Regional chairman of NPP announced the strategy at a media briefing in Ho on Tuesday and said the party is poised to ensuring credible presidential and parliamentary elections on December 7, devoid of foreign votes.

“We want to send a strong warning to Togolese who are usually contracted by the NDC to come and vote in Ghana for freebies to abstain from such practices. This is because, we have designed a monitoring operational strategy, Operation Eagle Eye, to mob every Togolese who will dare to cross the Ghana border with the intention to vote.”

“These operation will deal with them squarely and mercilessly in accordance with laws of the Land,” Mr. Amewu warned.

According to him, it was unfortunate that the General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has “no patriotic values by inciting Togolese to come to Ghana and vote for the NDC.

“Regrettably, this practices is against every constitutional right to call on Togolese to come to Ghana to vote,” said Mr. Amewu.

The NPP in the region has therefore issued a vehement warning to the NDC to desist from such “malpractices and thievery” before it plunges the country into civil unrest.
