Most young ladies of today keep outwitting their partners. From false eyebrows, hip pads, body magic, breast enlargement apparel, among others, they wear just to please their men.
With most men desiring to take ladies who are virgins to the altar, some ladies are stepping up their game by ‘repackaging’ their virginity status.
There are several creams currently on the market which claim to ‘shrink’ and ‘tighten’ a lady’s bits.
Currently in vogue is the use of virginity creams, pills, injectables, gels, soaps and many others to please their men when they have sex for the first time.
There are so many creams to apply or pills to insert and after sex there will be false blood-like liquid on the bedspread for the woman to score high points as a virgin.
The creams and pills come with interesting names such as 18 Again, Vagina Shrink Cream, Venue Virgin Cream, Virgin tight, Wedding night survival, V Tight Gel, Vagi-Seal, Virgin4Ever, Virginity Soap, Virginity spray, Virgin Slut, Liquid Virgin, Hymen Repair Surgery, V Firm and Herbal Goddess.
Most of the creams come from China, Korea and India, with the herbal concoction versions coming from Nigeria, Ghana and Benin.
With between GH¢25 and GH¢300, one can purchase a pack. Results from some of the products can be attained within 24 hours or continuous usage for weeks, depending on the brand.
Most of the women who have had positive results from using some of these creams or gels told The Mirror that their sex life turned around pretty quickly after using the products.
Some women have also reported that the gels have helped to curb other vaginal issues such as yeast infection, vaginal odour or vaginal dryness which can be quite uncomfortable during sex.
A random examination of some of these restoration products at some shops at Accra Central revealed that the creams come in two forms — those that can be used by brides on their wedding night and the tightening creams which are highly patronised by women who have given birth before, sex workers or fun- seeking people.
Kukua, a student who loves to use the 24-hour tightening cream, said the cream made it feel like the first time.
“This alum-based tightening cream makes the vaginal walls contract for up to 24 hours, so you feel tighter to him and he feels larger to you,” she said.
Mrs Asiedu, who started using one of the gels after childbirth, said her husband loved it whenever she applied the creams.
“He always feels the difference automatically anytime and gives me thumbs up for it always,” she said.
Vaginal tightening creams are made mostly from herbs and many think they are 100 per cent safe to use. Dr Oye Nartey, a sex therapist, has, however, condemned the usage of such creams, gels, pills and soap.
According to her, “before jumping right into the invasive procedures, it’s important to try out less invasive ones such as kegel exercises. There are also many physicians who recommend these exercises with vaginal tightening creams for the best results.”
“Kegels basically involve relaxing and contracting the vaginal muscles a few times every day. It’s not a complicated procedure and the privacy is astounding. You can even do kegels in the middle of a large family gathering and no one will know you are doing it.
“Even better, they are free. So if you want your vagina to tighten at no expense, this is definitely the best way to do it,” she explained.
Dr Nartey pointed out that one of negative side effects of using such creams was that it could cause allergic reactions and some complications.
“Some creams could cause infections if not properly used. This occurs less frequently and may at times be caused by counterfeit and substandard products.
“If one experiences such side effects, she should stop using the product and if it persists she should visit a qualified medical doctor for proper medical attention,” she advised.
