The late President Mills died while in office on 24th July 2012 after battling ill-health for some time. His poor health condition which affected his vision and hearing was public knowledge.

There were visible signs on him that showed his failing health, especially during his last days in office but his handlers mounted a strong defence anytime the issue came up for discussion.

The NDC and the handlers of the president it is believed were afraid to publicly declare the health status of the President and take adequate steps to treat him because they feared it would affect their political fortunes in the December general elections.

The issue of the late President’s death has been a subject of considerable speculation and agitation due to the unavailability of full concrete public report on his death.

Per the narrative on the circumstances leading to the late President’s death, a section of the public even believe that some people conspired and killed him for their political gains.

But speaking on the matter on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM, Thursday, Dr Cadman Mills stated that with the high level of suspicion over the late President’s death, an inquest is the best option to settle the matter also especially as the NDC is presently not in power for anyone to doubt the results.

“To be honest with you at this I’m just so fed up with the speculations and suspicions, if it would help matters…if Ghanaians will once and for all be at peace for them to have an inquest please do it, please have an inquest so that Ghanaians can rest and be at peace. Unfortunately we in Ghana I’m not so sure that if they did an inquest, there still will not be people who’ll question it. But at the very least the NDC is not in power so nobody can say they falsefy the results, hopefully if an inquest is done Ghanaians will finally rest at peace and I will rest, I’ll be at peace to…and hopefully President Mills will be at peace. I’m not requseting for an inquest, all I’m saying at this stage is that I have no issues with an inquest, I think it will be better that it is done.”
