The NGO seeks to construct six-unit classroom block, provide a borehole, tricycle ambulance, medical equipment and clothes for the school and the Atanda community within one and half years.

For starters, they dewormed over 300 children and gave them educational materials.

The occasion was full of joy for pupils, teachers and the Atanda community in general as they welcomed a delegation from the Universe Aid Foundation.

The Foundation said it was touched after reading the news item www.3news.com  on the deplorable nature of the school and how pupils struggled to access basic education.

They were aroused the more when TV3 showed it.

At a ceremony to introduce the delegation from Foundation to a gathering comprising parents, opinion leaders, teachers and assembly members, the Bongo District Director of Education, Duncan Nsoh, thanked Universe Aid Foundation for coming to the aid of the school.

He said though the District has on its own assisted the school, much is still needed to make life comfortable for pupils and teachers.

The leader of the delegation, Dr. Kofi Adu, extended good will messages of members of the Foundation and thanked TV3’s Upper East Region correspondent, Tanko Mohammed Rabiu, who exposed the poor state of the school.

Dr Adu said though they wanted to contribute their widow’s mite in addressing the issues of the school, they realized the community in general was in dire need.

Therefore, they will provide the community with water, which is much needed before later tackling the classroom project.

Dr. Adu, who is a practicing as medical doctor in the UK, said as part of the project, health facilities will be constructed because the health of the pupils is very important.

He said that is the reason behind the deworming exercise while some drugs like pain killers, gels and others have been given to the school for First Aid.

The founder of the school and a volunteer teacher, Julius Ayamga Pascal, thanked the Foundation for its quick response and called for more support.

He also thanked the Bongo District Education directorate for providing them with few furniture and qualified teachers.

The Assemblyman for the area, Akolgo George Akolbire, on behalf of the community, thanked the Foundation but also called for more development for the community from other NGOs.

Mr Akolbire together with Dr. Adu and other community members visited a dried dam which serves about five communities.

The Foundation promised to renovate the dam to serve its purpose.
