Alfred Halm, Cape Coast South Constituency Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Central Region, has allegedly duped a mobile phone dealer by reportedly refusing to pay for 50 pieces of the mobile devices he bought to be distributed to the party’s communicators.

He later caused the arrest of the mobile phone dealer, John Acquah aka Naso.

It took the intervention of the Cape Coast South parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Michael Arthur Dadzie, to grant John Acquah bail at the Bakaano District Police Station.

Briefing DAILY GUIDE, Acquah said on August 12, 2016, Mr Halm and the Regional Communication Officer of the NDC, Kwesi Dawood, approached him that they wanted to buy 50 pieces of mobile phones and that he should bring the devices to them at a hotel in Cape Coast.

He said that he submitted the phones, comprising 30 pieces of ZTE Zmax and 20 pieces of HTC M7, totaling GH¢20,000, to them at the hotel and after the two had collected them, he was asked to come for the money the following day because President John Dramani Mahama was in Cape Coast for their national campaign launch at the sports stadium and needed to organize some people to attend the event.

The worried phone dealer stated that the two NDC gurus refused to pick his calls on the day they promised to pay the money, a situation which compelled him to go and inform an assembly man – who is also a member of the NDC – to talk to his colleagues to pay him the money.

Mr Acquah hinted that the two did not mind the assembly member and so he reported the matter to the Bakaano District police where Mr Halm was invited for questioning and he promised to go and collect some money from the presidency to come and pay for the mobile devices by September 6. Acquah said Mr Alfred Halm never showed up again at the police station neither did he respond to his calls.

“What pains me most is that he had been telling people that he can get whatever he wants since his government is in power. I went for a loan to do my business and look at the way they are treating me. Do they want me to be jailed or what? In fact, President Mahama must bring these people to order,” Mr Acquah bemoaned.

He told DAILY GUIDE that upon realizing that the two had duped him, he bought some eggs and a bottle of Schnapps to Mr Halm’s wife’s work place to ask her to advise the husband to pay him his money else he would curse him.

Acquah told this paper that upon hearing the encounter with his wife, Mr Halm reported the matter to the police and he (dealer) was arrested.

He (Acquah) is expected to report at the police station on Tuesday.
