The Offinso Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Isaac Mensah Afedzi, has been reported dead after a vehicle he was travelling in as part of the convoy of the NDP Presidential Candidate, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, was involved in an accident on the Techiman-Kumasi Highway.
According to eyewitnesses, the Chairman died at a Hospital he was rushed to after the accident on Monday night.
Other members aboard the vehicle are said to have sustained various degrees of injury.
According to the General Secretary of the NDP, Mohammed Frimpong, the party’s Presidential Candidate, Nana Konadu-Agyemang Rawlings, was unhurt and is safe.
“One vehicle in the convoy was hit from behind by a speeding Burkinabe cargo truck, and the driver was virtually speeding off. The vehicle summersaulted and hit several people.”
“He got injured on the spot and was taken to a clinic and later on transferred to the Nkinkanso Hospital. In the course of the night, unfortunately, he died,” Mohammed Frimpong said.
Those injured are currently receiving medical attention at the Holy Family Hospital in Techiman, as the police have commenced investigations into the matter.
