Citi News’ Neil Nii Amatey Kanarku, reported that in attendance at the service was the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia; the Speaker of Parliament, Mike Oquaye; former President John Kufuor among other New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwarts.

There were also a number of NPP members of Parliament, diplomats and some foreign dignitaries at the service.

Some NPP sympathizers lined some major streets from Koforidua through to Suhum, all the way to Kyebi, to catch a glimpse of the new President.

President Akufo-Addo was sworn in as the fifth President of Ghana on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at the Black Star Square.

In his first address as President, he assured that his assumption of office will spell the beginning of a new era of economic transformation of prosperity for the country.

He further issued a stern warning to members of his government to do away with intentions of amassing wealth from public office.

At the thanksgiving service, the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Opoku Onyinah, delivered a sermon urging members of President Akufo-Addo’s government not to be covetous of worldly things, but to work as a team and listen to their leader.
