Kwesi Pratt has condemned an alleged assault on a female Ghanaian staff by a Lebanese supervisor at Marwako restaurant in Abelemkpe, Accra.
Jihad Chaaban, 26, brother-in-law of the owner of the restaurant, is alleged to have grabbed the neck of Evelyn Boakye, 25, and soaked his face in a blended raw pepper for about 10 minutes before locking the victim up.
The mistreatment of the victim has angered several Ghanaians as they’ve proposed to stop patronising the restaurant.
The hashtag (#BoycottMarwako) has been trending on social media after the alleged assault.
Addressing the issue on Peace FM’s ‘Kokrokoo’, Mr. Pratt expressed worry over the mistreatment and called on the Police Service to deal with alleged attack dispassionately.
According to him, there should not be any act of favour or favouritism in dealing with the issue and further wondered why the Police would reportedly invite the perpetrator of such “barbaric” act to the station instead of effecting his arrest.
Mr. Pratt wants an objective investigation and finality on the issue.
He also blamed the act on the leaders of the nation as he was disappointed with their fuss over investors.
He explained that it appears the nation can do nothing except she relies on investors; hence the name “investors” has turned into a singsong for the leaders.
“Everything we do is for the investor. We should start doing something for ourselves, for a change and stop this “investor, investor, investor, investor” thing. It doesn’t help us. From February 24th, 1996, the private sector has been the engine of growth till date . . . It’s become a singsong,” he charged the nation’s leaders.
