As forecast yesterday by DAILY GUIDE that the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) David Asante-Apeatu was going to transfer regional commanders and directors-general in the Police Service has come to pass.

The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, COP Nathan Kofi Boakye, is heading for Accra as Director General Research/Planning at the Police Headquarters.

That position was held by COP Rose Bio Atinga, who now moves to the Technical Directorate as Director General at the headquarters.

COP James Opong-Boanuh (DG Services), now heads the Directorate of Administration as COP Frank Adu-Poku (DG Technical) goes to Services.

COP/Dr. George Akuffo-Dampare Commandant, The Command and Staff College of the Police, Winneba, heads the ICT Directorate as DG, while COP Ransford Ninson (DG Administration) moves to Welfare.

Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCOPs) have also been transferred at various command segments. DCOP Yaggy Akuribah, Regional Commander, Western Region, now moves to head the National Patrols and Visibility Department as DCOP David Nenyi Ampah-Bennin (DG PIPS) goes to the Central Region as Commander.

DCOP Maxwell Sakipaso Atingane, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Commander, goes to the Motor Transport and Traffic Department (MTTD) at the Police Headquarters as DG.

DCOP Osabarima Oware Asare Pinkro III (DG Special Duties) is the new Greater Accra Regional Commander, taking over from ACP Timothy Yoosa Bonga, who now heads the Inspection Unit.

DCOP Isaac Ken Yeboah, Northern Regional Commander, replaces COP Kofi Boakye as the Ashanti Regional Commander.

DCOP George Tuffour (Director Education and Training Department) has been transferred to Tema as Regional Commander as DCOP Kwasi Mensah-Duku, Upper West Regional Commander, moves to the Western Region.

DCOP Simon Yaw Afeku, Upper East Regional Commander, goes to PIPS, Accra, with DCOP Paul Mandy Awuni, Regional Commander, Tema, moving to head the Private Security Operations Department.

DCOP Vincent Redeemer Dedjoe, Volta Regional Commander, heads the Upper East Regional Command.

DCOP Kwame Tachie-Poku, Central Regional Commander, to the Brong-Ahafo Region while ACP Kwadwo Boapea Otchere, Director, Inspection Unit, goes to the Upper West Region.

ACP Nana Asomah Hinneh, Deputy Volta Regional Commander, now heads the region as Commander.

The transfers did not however, include COP Christian Yohunu, the man in-charge of National Operations, and COP Beatrice Sanziri, the head of the Human Resource Directorate.

No name has also been mentioned for the person who takes over the command of the Staff College at Winneba, which by COP/Dr. Dampare’s transfer, has no Commandant.

Perhaps another signal would be issued today or in the ensuing days.

Since assuming the national command of the law enforcement agency, this is the most sweeping movement of the top echelon of the Ghana Police Service – the first being the replacement of the Director General of the CID, COP Prosper Agblor, by DCOP Bright Oduro.
