Former national team coach Fred Osam-Duodu has passed on.
The 1978 African Cup of Nations-winning coach died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital on Tuesday, October 4 after a short illness.

Fred Osam-Duodu last coached the Black Stars at the 2002 Nations Cup in Mali, where the team exited at the quarter-final stage after losing 0-1 to Nigeria.
Between winning the title in 1978 and leading the senior national soccer team in 2002, the late Osam-Duodu coached the side at Nigeria 1980.
He also handled Ghana’s junior national teams including the Black Satellites, with whom he won the 1993 African Youth Championship – Ghana’s first – and lost the U-20 world cup finals in that same year to Brazil.
He also handled the Black Starlets, with whom he won Bronze at the 2007 African U-17 Championship in Togo. Before that feat, he had annexed the African title with The Gambia after controversially beating Ghana in the finals in Banjul.
