Yesterday the Minority Caucus in Parliament were in a state of dismay when the Speaker dismissed a motion filed by them to investigate President John Dramani Mahama over the Ford gift saga received from Burkinabe Contractor Djibril Kanazoe.

Speaking on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo hosted by Kwame Adinkrah, he accused the Speaker of being biased in his ruling, saying prior to the ruling, only planned to protect the president’s integrity, but not that of Ghana.

The Legislator claimed the Speaker does not understand the nitty-gritty of his responsibility, hence his decision to tarnish the country’s image.

‘What happened yesterday was an eyesore, it’s a taint on our governance, the Speaker only planned to protect the president’s integrity, but not that of Ghana, he became the Spokesperson for the (NDC), he has disgraced himself on happenings in Parliament, he will go down as the worst performing Speaker so far in the country, he has to understand that, yesterday, I gave him that description straight away that he is the worst performing Speaker who does not understands his work,’ he alleged.

He observed that the Speaker after giving his ruling snubbed MPs and ‘took to his heels’, fearing that the Minority will bombard him with questions.

Mr. Asiamah believed that the Speaker‘s action made it evident that the Minority was vindicated over bribery allegation levelled against the President.

‘Our proceedings is such that after the Speaker’s ruling on motions, he accords both leaders (Majority and Minority) with respect and reverence, but yesterday he didn’t stay but ran away after tarnishing Ghana’s reputation, he showed gross disrespect to MPs, that arrogance (excuse my words) does not befit a Speaker, his action has vindicated us, what are you are hiding, why are you running from the debate,’he asked.

Touching on the General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Asiedu Nketia suggestion that the minority be charged for causing financial loss to the State, he told Ghanaians to ignore Asiedu Nketia’s comments.

‘Kwame I respect you a lot I wouldn’t have responded, we shouldn’t place value on Asiedu Nketia’s propaganda comments, he shouldn’t be taken serious always,’ he said.
