Disqualified Parties Hold Emergency Meetings, Threaten To Sue EC

Leadership of some of the disqualified political parties for the 2016 elections have held emergency meetings over the news from the EC which they have described as “shocking and annoying”.

The likes of the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP), Peoples National Convention (PNC) and the National Democratic Party (NDP) are in a meeting to take a decision on their next line of action over the EC’s decision.

General Secretary of the PNC, Mohammed Atik in an interview with Accra based Citi Fm said “we are incensed by this by the EC, as I speak with you I am on my way to the EC’s office to get further details on why this decision.

“Whatever we have to do to get onto the ballot paper, we will do it” he added.

Kofi Asamoah Siaw, National Secretary of the PPP said “that the National Committee of the party is in a crunch meeting and awaiting reasons from the EC and we would know our next line of action.”

Thirteen (13) political parties including former first lady and founder of the NDP, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, PNC’s Dr. Edward Nasigri Mahama, ACP’s Hassan Ayariga, Dr. Papa Kwesi Ndoum of the PPP, Akua Donkor of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Thomas Ward Brew of the Democratic People’s Party (DPP).

The rest are Dr. Agyenim Boateng of the United Front Party (UFP), Kofi Akpaloo of the Independent Peoples Party (IPP), Dr. Henry Hurbert Lartey of the Ghana Consolidated Peoples Party (GCPP), Kwabena Agyei of the Reformed Patriotic Democrats (RPD), Winston Tetteh and Alfred Kwame Asiedu Walker.

Some of the party’s ahead of the courts final decision on the matter have already threatened to seek legal redress.
