The non-profit organizations, which include the Ghana International Women’s Club, the Children’s Heart Foundation, the North American Women’s Association and The India Women’s Association, will on Saturday, March 25, embark on a 10km walk from the Labadi beach hotel in Accra to among other things create awareness on their various organizations and solicit for funds the deprived in society.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra, the Deputy Administrative Director of Infanta Malaria Prevention Foundation, Ruth Nylander, said they seek to build more Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHIPS) compounds especially in the three regions of the north.

According to her, Ghana is expected to have over two thousand nine hundred CHIPS compounds, but only one thousand has so far been constructed. She added that, the building of these compounds will reduce child mortality and help in the fight against malaria, hence the reason to participate in the fundraising.

Speaking on behalf of the Ghana International Women’s Club, a member, Nermine Kattah, said the funds raised from the walk will be used to purchase a machine for the radiotherapy department at Korle-Bu.

For the Children’s Heart Foundation Ghana, the organisation this year seeks to generate funds to pay the full cost of surgery for over 40 children with heart issues.

The walk, they claim, will also help create awareness on the need for Ghanaians to donate to such organisations that are of immense benefit to women and children.

Speaking to Citi News, the vice president for the India Women’s Association, Vanisha Daryanani, said the monies generated will be used to battle breast cancer in women.

According to her, it will also help the organisation offer more free health screening across the country to help Ghanaians who cannot afford regular screening.
