One of the founding members of the UP tradition, Prof. Abrefa Busia, would have deserted the New Patriotic Party (NPP) if he were alive today, according to veteran politician Kwamena Ahwoi.

Prof. Ahwoi said the leadership style of NPP flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo has disintegrated the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition, leaving most members disillusioned and uncertain about their fate in the upcoming general elections.

Addressing a durbar at Subinso in the Wenchi district of the Brong Ahafo region during the NDC campaign tour of the area, Prof. Ahwoi described Nana Addo’s “intolerance and vindictive character” as very pathetic, especially when previous leaders of the tradition “appeared different”.

“Nana Addo has sacked the chairman of his party, Paul Afoko, his General Secretary is nowhere to be found and his vice chairman is also out of the party. It demonstrates Nana Addo’s incompetence which is a reflection of how bad his leadership will be if he were given the opportunity to govern this country,” Prof. Ahwoi stressed.

Addressing several other mini rallies at Nchiraa, Buoko and Chiraa, he said President John Mahama has demonstrated his commitment to deliver on his promises and his tolerance nature bonds Ghanaians in spite of their differences.

He assured the people of more development and asked them to retain Mahama in office to guarantee the “peace Ghanaians are enjoying”.

The chief of staff Julius Debrah, who is leading the campaign in the region, said while the NDC is busily explaining its manifesto and working on the ground to win votes, the NPP is sitting in Accra taking ‘selfies’ with Kalyppo.

Mr. Debrah rallied the electorate to vote for Mahama “for another four years of transformation.”

The chief of Buoku, Nana Addae Sekyeredu commended Mahama for the provision of community day senior high schools, power, water and other projects. He, however, appealed to the government to lease part of a forest reserve in the community for other development projects.

The Wednesday campaign tour ended in the evening with an encounter with professionals.

The programme involved showcasing achievements of the President captured in video documentaries on massive infrastructure projects, briefing on the 2016 manifesto and an open forum.

The discussion was led by Deputy Communications Minister, Ata Sarpong, Mr Totobi Kwakye, a founding member of the NDC and former head of National Security, Professor Kwamena Ahwoi, the Regional Minister Eric Opoku and the Chief of Staff.
