The 30-year-old failed to recover in time, missing their 6-0 drubbing of Hatta on Wednesday, to raise concerns about his readiness for the clash with Egypt in the 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifiers on November 13.

Four goals by Lima and a goal each from Ahmed Khalil and Everton Ribeiro handed Ahli their fifth consecutive victory to move to second place on the log. They are just a point behind fierce rivals Al Ain, who are leading with 14 points.

Gyan, who has just played two games for the Black Stars this year, admitted in an interview that it would be very difficult for him to recover in time to face the Pharaohs.

“It will be very hard to participate in Ghana’s encounter against the Pharaohs [of Egypt] on November 13 in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers,” Gyan was quoted as saying by UAE portal 24.

“I will have to undergo tests tomorrow under the supervision of the club’s medical team, to find out the extent of my injury and the duration of my time out but things do not look good at all,” he added.

Gyan joins West Ham United record-signing Andre Ayew and Juventus midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah, who are likely to miss the Egypt encounter due to lack of fitness.

Goal understands that Black Stars coach Avram Grant met the executive committee of Ghana FA on Wednesday to discuss the final selection of players for the game as a result of the injuries.

Las Palmas midfielder Kevin Prince Boateng, who recently declared his readiness to play for the country again after he was sent home from the 2014 World Cup, was in Grants’ plans but the committee rejected the idea, insisting the player must render an apology to the country before any future consideration.

The final 23-man squad will be announced this week before the team’s camping in Dubai on Monday. They are expected to depart for Alexandria on November 11.
