Former Asante Kotoko defender Joseph Hendricks says the Ghana Football Association should allow Ghanaians to choose the next Black Stars coach.
A six-member committee has been mandated by the Ghana FA to find a suitable replacement for Avram Grant who departed the position after his contract ended last month.
However, the former Asante Kotoko guardsman believes this directive by the Ghana FA is unfit hence the FA should allow the football populace to decide who they want take up the team’s rein.
”I’ve learnt that they [Ghana FA] have setup a six-member committee to look for a new coach for the Black Stars team, but I don’t see this decision to be the best for Ghanaians at all,” the 46-year old told Berekum-based Chris FM.
”Ghanaians are clamouring for a local coach and I think they should be allow to choose their next head coach of the Black Stars. The voice of the Ghanaian populace should be considered in this exercise,” he emphasized.
”Again, the GFA shouldn’t allow the said set committee to impose any coach on Ghanaians for the vacant coaching job as it’ll be unfair to the people of the nation. The right thing which must be done is to pave way for Ghanaians to go for their own coach for the senior national team,” he reiterated.
According to multiple reports, over 70 coaches have applied for the vacant coaching job including three local coaches.
