Former Ghana international Kevin-Prince Boateng has taken a swipe at the Ghana Football Association following the Black Stars’ disappointing showing at the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

Alain Traore scored the only goal as Avram Grant’s men suffered a 1-0 defeat to Burkina Faso in the third-place playoff in Port-Gentil on Saturday.

Boateng is currently on an indefinite suspension from international duty after being sent home from camp at the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil for ‘verbal insults’ targeted at then coach Kwesi Appiah.

“Unbelievable how a team, coach, fans and country with such great value can finish an Afcon in that way! I hope now we will see all those…” Boateng tweeted.

A second tweet read: “big changes we all hope for!! Because Ghana and all the people of Ghana deserve better… ”

Saturday’s defeat makes it three fourth-placed finishes for Ghana in the last five years at the Afcon.

Interestingly, the team have made the semi-finals of the last six Afcons, but still without any luck of claiming gold, having won their last of four titles in 1982.

Born to a German mother and a Ghanaian father in Berlin, Boateng switched international allegiance to represent the Black Stars at senior stage in 2010 after representing the Europeans at youth level.

The 2014 World Cup aside, the former AC Milan star represented Ghana at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

The 29-year-old has scored six goals in 14 La Liga matches thus far for his side Las Palmas – one of his most outstanding run in a season.
