In 2014, the GFA cut ties with Appiah following the Black Stars’ disastrous World Cup campaign in Brazil, the four-time African champions exiting the competition for the first time at the first round amid camp unrest.

The 56-year-old has, however, been offered another chance to make amends, starting with Sunday’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia.

“He is the same Kwesi Appiah we know but we’ve seen a lot of changes at training and attitude in camp,” Gyan told the media.

“I think he doesn’t want to repeat the same mistakes.

“He is correcting a lot of things that he did before, it’s a good thing for us and we are abiding by the rules.

“We are players and he is the coach. Whatever he decides, we just have to obey and work to be positive.

“We want to win this game and build our confidence for the games ahead.”

Under Appiah, the Black Stars also finished a disappointing fourth position at the 2013 Afcon.

The former Asante Kotoko man, after his Ghana exit, moved on to manage Sudanese club Al Khartoum until his reapportionment by the GFA.
