Video: Ratty Ghana Tailors Ghana’s Political History Into A Rap

Though an upcoming rapper and hip-life artiste, Ratty Ghana promises to have what many rappers lack to solidify their credibility in the industry: substance. The young Ghanaian rapper infuses the Ghanaian political history in an artistically prolific delivery to celebrate Ghana month.

March was declared by the Ministry of Tourism as a Ghana month and Ghanaians were required to promote Ghanaian products and services in their own small ways.

Accordingly, Media General, mother company of TV3,3FM,Onua FM, Connect FM, Akoma FM, APL and 3news.com, also declared March a “Ghana Month” and championed “Eat Ghana, Wear Ghana, Watch Ghana and Know Ghana” campaign throughout the month. The media conglomerate strategically aligned its productions and content in that direction. It was during the period that Ratty Ghana made an appearance on 3FM and TV3 to stage that compelling performance we still talk about even after the month has passed.

As a finalist in the 2014 Vodafone icon remix edition, Ratty Ghana is optimistic and envisions himself enlisted among the best African rappers in the near future.

“I want to be recognized as one of the best artiste in Africa”, he told Nana Ama on TV3’s New Day.

In his poetic performance, Ratty Ghana catalogued some of the major political events that happened in the history of Ghana beginning from independence to the Nana Akufo-Addo-led NPP government. He highlighted the efforts of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and the legacy he bequeathed to us.

He strategically, yet within his rhythm noted all the transitions in the various republics and some of the major events that happened in each. He literally simplified the history of Ghana in his rap.

Ratty Ghana’s performance can best be described as a mind blowing and an insightful historical piece well woven to engage the intellect and to amuse.
