The Police in Kumasi have arrested two persons for allegedly beheading a five year-old boy, Silas Kunsana at Ampabame near Sokoban in Kumasi. They have been charged with murder.

The suspects, Vikuniba Joe Zoot, 21 and Kozel Borama, 25, all from Tongo in the Upper East Region, were arrested on Wednesday, March 7,  2018 at their hideouts.

Briefing the media on Friday, March 9, 2018, Ashanti Regional Police Commander, COP Ken Yeboah, said the command had information that the suspects had approached Sheikh Alhaji Mohammed Maaye, a spiritualist at Suame to sell human part to him.

He said the spiritualist feigned interest and agreed to pay an amount of Gh¢2,500 to them after collection.

“The spiritualist then informed police. Police then armed with this information proceeded to the residence of the spiritualist located at Suame Zongo and arrested the suspects with the fresh head, which was concealed in a black polythene bag,” he said.

COP Ken Yeboah said the suspects later led police to retrieve the headless body of the deceased at the outskirt of Ampabame near Sokoban in an uncompleted building.

“Investigation so far has revealed that the deceased was residing with parents at Suame, a suburb of Kumasi. Further investigations revealed that at about 6:00 pm, on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 the two suspects were roaming at Suame roundabout where they met the deceased,” he said.

According to him, the suspects approached the deceased and lured him with yogurt, hired a taxi and pushed him in and took him to an uncompleted building at Sokoban and with a butcher’s knife, beheaded the deceased.

“When the headless body of the boy was found, it was noticed that the deceased both hands had been cut off. The fresh head, hands of the deceased and the headless body of the deceased had been sent to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue. When suspects were questioned as to why they committed the act, they mentioned that “they were hot”, he said.

Body of the deceased has been identified as that of Silas Kunsana, a twin.

The Police say the suspects will soon be arraigned on the murder charge.
