In a clear case of an escalating family feud, Agbeyenga is alleged to have lost his cool during an altercation with his senior brother and committed the said act in 2015.

During his appearance in court, Dzikunu Agbenyega pleaded guilty with explanation to a charge of causing harm.

But the court presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku, deferred sentencing after a lengthy explanation from the accused person and granted him bail in the sum of Gh¢6,000 with one surety.

According to the prosecutor, Inspector Kofi Atimbire, Agbenyegaand his senior brother resided in the same family house at Abossey Okai, a suburb of Accra.

The two brothers, he said, were not on speaking terms and they quarrelled on numerous occasions.

In 2015, the prosecutor said, the senior brother was preparing porridge in front of his room when Agbenyega approached him and started teasing him about a certain issue.

The bother did not take kindly to Agbenyega’s utterance and got into a fight with him. In the course of the fight, the prosecutor claimed Agbeyenga took a wooden slab fused with a nail and hit his brother with it.

According to Inspector Atimbire, Agbeyenga’s brother bled profusely from his injuries and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

In his explanation, Agbenyega expressed surprise at his brother for reporting the incident to the police.

According to him, the matter had already been settled by the head of their family, and therefore, it came as a shock to him when the police contacted him to appear in court even though the incident took place two years ago.

He accused his senior brother of verbally assaulting him on countless occasions and at one point, he claimed the brother called his wife a prostitute.

Agbenyega’s brother, who was in court, denied the accused person’s assertions and stated that the family head failed to settle the matter because of Agbenyega’s attitude.

He claimed Agbenyega was a marijuana addict who had made it his agenda to disturb him on a daily basis.

Due to the varied views presented by the two brothers, the presiding judge ordered them to bring witnesses on the next adjourned date to help the court determine the case.

Agbenyega was ordered to bring his wife, who he claimed was called a prostitute by his brother.

The senior brother on the other hand was ordered to bring the head of the family to verify his claims that attempts to settle the matter had failed.
