Police Have Deceived Ghanaians On Delta 8

It appears contentions about the release of the eight Delta force members will not be dying down anytime soon because the National Democratic Congress in the Ashanti region has expressed reservations with the freeing of eight members of the vigilante group of the governing New Patriotic Party.

The eight who were standing trial for attacking a magistrate’s court and aiding the escape of thirteen of their members who were standing trial were discharged on Wednesday 17 May 2017 for lack of evidence.

But speaking on the Ultimate Fact File, communicator for the NDC Malam Isa insisted that the police is deceiving the country if it claims it was not able to identify the persons who were videoed in the act.

“These antics defy common logic because we were here when a lady was manhandled for stealing at Kejetia, these same police personnel were able to use the videos to apprehend the perpetrators of that crime and brought them to book.”

“And this is a case; we have the videos in the broad daylight. If the Delta Force is an accredited private security affiliated to the NPP, then they know their members,” he fumed.

But communicator for the governing New Patriotic Party Ntim Twumasi Kwaku popularly known as NTK, who was also on the Fact File insisted that the police had given enough reason for their inability to identify the real perpetrators of the act.

“Assuming without admitting that it happened, it was reported to be a mob attack and as a police man your client is your responsibility and they rightfully went to protect the judge and dragged her to safety first.”

“The Delta force worked within a time frame and the police called in reinforcement. So the question is who were those who did the arrest? Was it the police personnel who were inside the court or the reinforcement that came by which time the guys had bolted,” he questioned.

Meanwhile the Ghana Bar Association has called for the police to arrest, duly charge and prosecute anyone who attacked the courts on the fateful day.

In a statement signed by its national president BENSON NUTSUPI, the GBA warned that the rule of law will be threatened if the impression is created that persons who engage in lawless acts can escape the arm of the law.
