Former Communications Minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, has denied claims by a member of the Dr Kwesi Botchwey Committee that he contributed to the defeat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the December 2016 general elections.

Dr Ibrahim Zuberu claimed on Accra-based Onua FM Tuesday that the actions of Mr Boamah and former Finance Minister, Seth Terkper, partly led to the shocking defeat of the party, stating the two refused to give out vital information to party communicators to counter the claims of the New Patriotic Party.

“For instance, Omane Boamah would say a lot of important things on Radio Gold, but he would never share those information with anyone. You can ask some of the panel who appear on the Radio Gold show” Dr Zuberu told Onua FM.

But Dr Omane Boamah has denied the assertion by Dr Zuberu that he kept vital information which could have discredit so called false claims by the New Patriotic Party to his chest.

“This is untrue and most unfortunate, particularly at this time that our great party the National Democratic Congress is embarking on a healing process to recapture power in 2020,” he said in response to the claim.

He added: “In the tone and spirit of this objective, I wish to inform Dr Zuberu and all interested parties that to the best of our knowledge every information that was available to the ministry and fit for public consumption was released to our communicators”.

Dr Omane Boamah mentioned under his tenure as Communications Minister, they published the ‘Green Book’ which outlined the NDC government achievement, and also provided what he said were “speaking notes” on topical issues to communicators on several platforms.

“we also disseminated widely, press statements on topical issues,” he added

He also mentioned they among several initiatives, embarked on a government for the people fora across the regions as well as hosted a series of live news briefings ” with the view to providing adequate information which were available to the Ministry of Communications to both citizens and party communicators.”

The former minister thus described the said claim by Dr Zuberu as “scurrilous insinuation” but said he is guided by the party’s collective “desire to heal, rejuvenate and reorganise, and to recapture power in the next three years and six months ahead.
