Nigerian prostitutes in Ghana -If only there can be a justifiable reason for going into the business of prostitution, these conversations may never surface.

Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana His Excellency Olufemi Micheal Abikoye, is deeply saddened by the increasing number of young Nigerians engaging in prostitution in some parts of Ghana.

The Commissioner who is determined to put a stop to this has been holding talks with relevant authorities in Ghana to secure decent jobs for the girls.

Micheal Abikoye met over 500 Nigerian prostitutes in Ghana. The ladies were said to be engaging in commercial sex activities in Kumasi.

The purpose of the meeting as was reported is for government to liaise with relevant authorities to find decent jobs for the girls who are mostly trafficked to Ghana to engage in such illegal activities.

There will also be a repatriation exercise for the tons of Nigerian sex workers in Ghana. These women trafficked to the country to engage in commercial sex work will be repatriated back to Nigeria.

The Nigerian politician said this and much more at the Ceeta-Kel hotel in Kumasi as part of his tour to meet the Nigerian community in the Ashanti and Brong Ahafo regions.

Commissioner Olufemi Micheal Abikoye was almost in tears as he expressed disappointment at the prevailing rate Nigerian teenage girls are trafficked into the country to engage in sex work, a disgraceful act which is greatly denting the image of Nigeria.

Mr. Abikoye also met with the police in the Ashanti region in the back of reports that over thirty (30) female Nigerian sex workers and child-traffickers were arrested by the command in a massive swoop.

The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, COP Ken Yeboah while speaking to Citi News also said that some of the girls the police arrested were sent back to custody after they were screened.

Ghana is gradually becoming a hub for prostitution, all thanks to dubious greedy individuals who opt to exploit young girls into sex slavery, in a bid to satisfy their insatiable thirst for riches.

Earlier this year, two women were nabbed by the police for transporting six girls from Nigeria in order to engage them in forced prostitution in Ghana.

The girls who were oblivious of the women’s intentions were made to put on sophisticated clothing and accessories, in order to look attractive to men. However, upon finding out the true intentions of the women, they refused to comply.

This had caused the women to lock them up and deny them food until the police came to their rescue.

This is just one of the very many cases of human trafficking in the country for the purpose of forcing victims into various indecent and shady businesses.

Asides from prostitution, the Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana also cited cyber-crime and child trafficking, as some illicit acts Nigerian nationals living in Ghana were engaging in.
