Key developments that have happened since the inauguration of President Akuffo-Addo have attracted the concerns of many institutions who claim the security of the nation is at a dire state.
The latest being the Policy Institute for International Relations and Security (PIIRES) which has listed key happening in the country threatening the peace and security of Ghana.
In a release posted on Facebook, the security think tank claims the issues of the menace of illegal mining, vigilante groups and Volta Separatism could spark the nation into darkness if not checked.
“The security of Ghana is very important to it citizens, enterprises, and translates into investor confidence in the assessment of the local economy, hence the need to safeguard the integrity of the state. #
Ghana is faced with smoldering issues that border on its security- the threat of separation of a group of people to form a new state, political party vigilante groups and the hazard of illegal gold mining in its waters and forests poses national security risks to the image of the democratic state,” excerpts of the statement revealed.
So far, government has stated its resolve to ensuring that security in the country is heightened up against various threats including the springing up of vigilante groups and the menace of illegal mining.
