Agona East Assembly Members Pledge To Endorse DCE

Members of the Agona East District Assembly have pledged to endorse Mr Denis Armah-Frempong, President Nana Akufo- Addo’s nominee for the position of District Chief Executive (DCE).

According to them, it would be major setback for members of the Assembly to reject the President’s nominee as it could affect policies and programmes of the area.

This came to light when members of the Assembly held a meeting to discuss matters affecting the welfare of the district, adding that failing to approve the nominee would not bring peace and development.

Mr Abdul Suleman, Assemblyman for Agona Duakwa \Zongo Ankobea electoral told Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview after their meeting held behind closed doors to discuss matters affecting the district.

He thanked the President for nominating Mr Armah-Frempong as District Chief Executive for Agona East.

He said President Akufo-Addo’s nominee had rich knowledge and experience to manage the assembly if the members approved his nomination.

Mr Abdul Suleman affectionately called said Mr Armah-Frempong could deliver without any hindrance because he held the DCE position in 2008 when the then Agona District was divided into East and West during President J. A. Kufuor’s regime.

Mr Albert Quainoo, Assemblyman for Fawomanye Electoral Area said the members of the assembly knew the calibre of person President Akufo-Addo had nominated for the DCE position and hoped that Mr Armah-Frempong would execute the job to perfection.

He said the Members were also sure of the social life and in-depth knowledge in local government management as former Assembly man for Nsaba Salem Electoral Area for two terms.

He said the Nominee being first DCE appointed for Agona East in 2008 could deliver for the district to become a better place to live, adding that members would also give him the necessary support and advice to enable his administration to succeed.

Mr Christopher Yenu, Assemblyman for Agona Seth Okai told GNA that Agona East Assembly was strongly united without entrenched partisan politics.

He said the members would vote overwhelmingly to endorse Mr Armah-Frempong, adding that no amount of politics could divide them to vote against the nominee.

Mr Yenu said Agona East District was lagging behind in infrastructural development and there was the need to endorse the nominee by Assembly members to reduce the deficit.
