John Dumelo came under intense criticisms over the weekend, following his controversial post which ‘mocked’ a graduate bread seller. The actor reportedly used his social media page to make fun of a graduate of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) who sells bread to make ends meet.

The massive tongue lashing hurled at the A-list actor all began on Saturday, May 20, 2017, when he posted a photo of the bread hawker in the Ashanti region with the caption; “Just saw a KNUST graduate hawking bread; what went wrong? ”

The actor questioned why a graduate should end up selling bread on the streets after all the hard work at the University. The post which has since been deleted raised lots of eyebrows among fans of the actor as well as the general public, as many criticized him for being unreasonable.

Social media users, who caught a glimpse of the photo and caption lashed out at him, demanding that he takes down the post as well as apologize to the young man whose picture he took without his consent. Many were of the opinion that a celebrity in the caliber of Dumelo ought to be an inspiration to all, and not otherwise.

Known for his unparalleled wits, musician, and satirist, Kwame A Plus led the calls for a retraction of the post on Dumelo’s part. Giving Dumelo a piece of his mind, the musician in a post, described the act as absolutely unnecessary. He called on Dumelo to apologize or prepare to face a legal battle if he declined.

Succumbing to the pressure, John Dumelo deleted the post in less than 24 hours.

Investigations revealed that the bread seller, Kwaku Vito O. Boateng who happened to be a graduate, is the CEO of a bakery based in Kumasi.

This information came to light following A plus’ intense search to find the bread seller, in a bid to fight for justice as usual. Meeting the graduate bread seller, the musician and NPP sympathizer discovered that Boateng is the owner of A1 and Auntie Mary Bread.

Mr. Boateng, as a matter of fact, has billboards all over Kumasi and a factory which employs over 200 people. The bread seller from Kumasi only joins his boys to sell on the streets of Accra to have firsthand information and feedback from his patrons.

Interacting with the media, Mr. Boateng said he wasn’t bothered at all. The confident bread seller explained he was proud of himself and his honest business.

Speaking to Citi Showbiz, the bread seller pointed out that people should not let themselves be pressured by society regarding the kind of work they should do. These unnecessary standards set by the society he explained, tend to pressure some into engaging in illegal and dishonest businesses in order to feel accepted.

Mr. Boateng also replied Dumelo with a quote from Sir Richard Branson, which explains that successful entrepreneurs push themselves to the limit to achieve results and create competitive brands for themselves.

Following immediate deletion of the controversial post by Dumelo himself, Kwame A-Plus took to social media again to warn against such intimidations and abuse of platforms by celebrities.
