On Wednesday, President Barack Obama will meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel for the last time in his presidency.

The two appeared to hit it off after Obama’s first visit as the newly elected U. S. president in 2009. Photos of them over the years show them sharing laughs and hugs amid serious conversations.
