Former New York Knicks star Charles Oakley, thrown out of Madison Square Garden two weeks ago, was courtside in Cleveland on Thursday as the Knicks visited the Cavaliers.
Oakley, whose simmering feud with Knicks owner James Dolan sparked NBA-wide comment when it boiled over this month, sat with Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert next to the home team’s bench.
“I’m rooting for a good game,” said a circumspect Oakley, who was arrested after swiping at security guards trying to escort him from a Knicks home game on February 8.
The charges are still pending, and Dolan later announced that Oakley was banned from the Knicks’ iconic home arena for being verbally abusive.
The row sparked angry responses from players backing Oakley, and even prompted NBA commissioner Adam Silver to try to broker a peace deal between Dolan and the beloved former Knick.
Oakley indicated Thursday that he’s not yet ready to let bygones be bygones.
“How long would it take you to get over something?” Oakley said.
