The reason, the ‘Mr Music Man’ speaking on Adom FM’s Drive Time Show, ‘Ofiekwanso’ on Friday, 14th October, 2016 said the contents of Nollywood do not ‘force me to think.’

“I don’t watch Nigerian movies, I need something creative that would force me to think…but the moment they commence, you know the end,” he said.

Nigerian movies took the Ghanaian society by storm in the late 90s and early part of the new millennium until the revival of the Ghanaian movie industry.

Kojo Antwi who was on the show to talk about his music career and the awards he has received said he has 13 records to his credit and working on a 14th one.

Asked about the awards he has received throughout his career, Kojo Antwi said he is not someone who really concentrates on winning awards as he aims more about delivering quality contents that would last generations than ‘producing just to win awards’.

Interestingly, Kojo Antwi is more interested in offering inspiration to persons in countries he has and is yet to visit.

“I have never been that type…the greatest award is when people clap for you and I think it is good to produce contents that last generations…,” he added.

He recounted how his life was impacted by an atmosphere at an awards ceremony where he received two nominations but never won any.

“I remember the Kora award where I had two nominations but didn’t win but I met the African greats and that atmosphere and what I learned from it was more than what the award would have offered…I was inspired by the songs and that was a humbling situation because it was a great atmosphere,” he said.

Kojo Antwi further urged the government and showbiz industry players to do more to help improve the industry in Ghana.
