The controversial artiste speaking on Adom Midday News on Friday said the amount is the least he charges to perform at shows.

“The charge depends but the least I charge is GHC150,000 to perform on shows…,” he revealed.

The amount the ‘Dancehall King’ charges to perform on shows became a subject of controversy in the country following his performance at the campaign launch of the Member of Parliament (MP) of Tamale Central constituency and Minister of Roads and Highways, Alhaji Inusah Fuseni.

The Daily Guide Newspaper reported that the Minister paid the artiste – whose songs are used by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for campaigns – GH?80,000 to perform at Tamale.

The Minister, who was uncomfortable with the report, has dragged Western Publications Limited, Publishers of the Daily Guide newspaper to an Accra High Court for defamation for defamation.

Lawyers for the plaintiff stated that the story headlined, “Minister Blows ?80,000 On Shatta Wale,” indicated that Shatta Wale, performed alongside two other local artistes in the region who were also said to have been paid GH?20,000 each.

Also joined to the suit are Fortune Alimi and Eric Kombat, Editor and Northern Regional Correspondent of the newspaper respectively.

Shatta Wale however told Nana Osei Ampofo Adjei that he charges not less than GHC150,000 to perform at shows.

He further called on Ghanaians and event organizers to feel free and patronize his services as he is someone who has the interest of the country at heart and also cares about the youth.

“That is my line of work, and anyone who wants my services that is how much I charge…if people want to engage me on their platforms, I am ready…” he said.
