I Am Spiritually Fortified – Omane Acheampong

Gospel artiste Nicholas Omane Acheampong has admitted that his current success in the music industry is down to having fortified himself in the supernatural realm.

According to him, no musician can make it on the local scene without recourse to some spiritual fortification.

The Tabitha Kum singer said this on Friday, September 30, 2016, when he appeared on Ayekoo Ayekoo, on Accra 100.5FM’s mid-morning show, on Friday September 30.

“If the world says Omane Acheampong has fortified himself, no one should challenge that; I have fortified myself. If you do not seek protection and decide to go through life anyhow, you will lose out,” he told show host Nana Romeo.

“Fortification means reliance on Jesus Christ. If you do not fortify yourself and decide to just sing, you will end up with nothing. So, if the world says Omane Acheampong has obtained protection, don’t be surprised because I have.”

The gospel artiste endured a hiatus from Ghanaian music after churning out some popular songs like Tabitha Kum, Mahashalal, and Zaphenath Paneah. But he has bounced back strongly unto the scene with hit songs like Aporsor and Mebo Wo Ho Ban. Aporsor was voted Gospel Song of the Year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) in 2016 and he was crowned Gospel General at the 2016 Gospel Music Awards.

But Omane Acheampong said the current crest of wave he was riding on did not come by happenstance, as he had to go through some period of adversity.

He likened his absence from the local gospel scene some years ago to biblical David’s rejection by his brothers, which forced him into the wilderness to take care of animals, saying in similar fashion, after the success of his Tabitha Kum album, he felt “life was rejecting me” forcing him to flee to the ‘bush’.

“And when David used the animals as his family and the time was due, God came back for him. And so when God came back for me after my spell in the ‘wilderness’, I returned with renewed energy…hence every song I come out with has been a hit. That is how God works,” he narrated.

He asked Christians to endure challenges that come their way, just as he did, since God takes his loved ones through such difficulties before rewarding them.

“If God is taking you away [into the wilderness, accept it],” he urged his supporters, adding: “Life is not all about comfort. At some point, things will be tough but if you can withstand it, it will determine how high God can take you. Submit to it because only the one who wins the battle gets to wear the crown.”
