This, he said, they can do by providing excellent customer service and expediting the processes involved without expecting any financial reward.

Mr. Busia said this when he together with some management staff paid working visit to the Weija office in Accra last Friday to acquaint himself with their activities.

Interacting with the staff, the Chief Executive said, the activities of the Authority which include testing, issuing of drivers’ licenses and roadworthy documents are fundamental in safeguarding the lives of motorists.

Mr. Busia commended the staff for their astuteness towards work but said unfortunately, their good works are overshadowed by activities of middlemen who fake licenses for clients, saying it is such acts that dent s the image of the Authority.

He said with the acquisition of state-of-the-art capturing machines, the processing of licences ses would be expedited and the situation where clients had to wait for months before acquiring their license would be a thing of the past.

The move Mr, Busia said would also interconnect the various offices which would make it easier for customers to assess services or verify information.

Mr. Busia lamented the spate of accidents on the roads, saying this could be attributed to vehicular and human factors including the non-observance of road signs.

On the negative impression that the institution is corrupt, Mr. Busia expressed worry about that and urged the staff to give off their best to help erase that perception.

Mr. Lawrence Adom, the Weija Manager took the team through the operational activities of the area.

He expressed worry about congestion in the office and appealed to management to consider a larger space for it activities.

The Director for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Mrs. Mabel Sagoe commended Mr, Adom for his good works recalling his effort when he was at Tarkwa where he acquired a parcel of land to erect a container for DVLA and also with the assistance of Anglogold Ashanti, tarred the road leading to the office.

Mr. Cheyuo Wienna Musah, Director for Driver, Training, Testing and Licensing and Mr. George Ackom Director for Vehicle Inspection and Registration took turns to brief the staff on steps being taken to digitise the system which would make the accessibility and recovery of files easier.

They also touched on the need for the Authority to take “its destiny to its hands” to do most of its activities rather than contracting them to others stating that when all is set, it would take two weeks for applicants to get their license.
