We’ll Wake Up ‘sleeping’ Media To Speak Against NPP – Kofi Adams

The National Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams is calling on Ghanaian media to be bold and speak up against the NPP brutality against the NDC members.

According to him, all well-meaning media practitioners should ovoid shielding the NPP and its Invisible Forces in their latest attacks on innocent Ghanaians especially the NDC supporters in post-election violence and takeover of state entities.

Speaking on Eye Witness News, the outspoken NDC Organizer condemned the NPP’s deputy General Secretary, Obiri Boahene for reportedly to have said the NPP will respond to the NDC in equal measure if the NDC tries any act of violence.

Deputy General Secretary of the NPP in a press briefing today lashed out at the security agencies for being biased in their approach in addressing alleged criminal issues in the country under ex-President Mahama.

Mr Boahen accused the Police Service, under John Kudalor of being pretentious as they have suddenly discovered themselves in cases involving suspected NPP sympathizers.

With this, Kofi Adams believes the lives of many Ghanaians especially NDC members cannot be guaranteed under NPP led Akufo-Addo government.

“This is to the good people of this country the kind of people we have entrusted leadership of this country into that wrongs should be encouraged and should be supported by NPP leaders. The foreign mission should be interested in Ghana, because if you listen to some irresponsible talks emanating from the governing part saying they’ll deal with others and all that, if we in the NDC want to respond then what will happened?, he lamented.

“The NPP’s leader has been elected and sworn in as the president of the republic and all of us expect him to protect everyone, if he so desires he can go into all kinds of issues but what he must understand is that, he’s now the president and he must protect everybody”, he said

He also added, “We [NDC] will wake up the media if they have gone to sleep, maybe some people think our friends are in, we’ll wake them up if they’re snoring, we’ll wake the clergy up to speak and all civil society organizations. They’re part of the process and they must wake up and speak against the NPP,” he said.

Mr Adams continued that, the NDC has petitioned the diplomatic community against what it believes are deliberate attacks on its members by the NPP supporters after December 7 elections.

On his side, the Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Koku Anyidoho, told the Daily Graphic that the decision to petition the international community had become necessary because the party did not want to be blamed for any chaotic scenes that might arise due to the attacks on its members.

It will be recalled that the National Chairman of the NDC, Kofi Portuphy, in the company of some national executives of the party at a press conference last week, blamed President Akufo-Addo for the development.

He said, among other things, that “Nana Akufo-Addo’s lack of positive and unifying leadership skills as an opposition leader seriously wounded the NPP. Never should he mislead himself into believing that Ghanaians shall allow him to wound and divide this dear country of ours.”

“The beastly conduct of Nana Akufo-Addo’s Invincible Forces will no longer be countenanced. We are calling on civil societies, religious bodies, the media and the international community not to blame the NDC if the unacceptable conduct of Akufo-Addo’s Invincible Forces leads to reprisal attacks,” Mr Portuphy warned.
