In a letter signed by the Managing Director of the bank Issah Adam, he said the party has an account with the bank and only withdrew from its account to pay for the aspirants.

“We wish to state that GN Bank has not financed the PPP presidential and parliamentary candidates with such an amount. We wish to add that the PPP and Dr Nduom have accounts with the bank as customers of the bank. The GH¢1,750,000 in question was paid in accordance with the PPP National Treasurer’s express instruction to pay to the EC of Ghana.”

The Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) has given the Presidential nominees of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom and All People’s Congress (APC) Hassan Ayariga up to Wednesday, October 26, to furnish their office with information on how they funded aspects of their political campaigns.

The Daily Graphic Newspaper reported that EOCO in a letter is asking Dr. Nduom to explain the source of the over Ghc1.7 million he used to pay for the filing fees of the parliamentary candidates of his party and his presidential filing fee at the Electoral Commission (EC).

“Information available to this office is to the effect that you financed the recent filing of nominations for both the presidential and parliamentary candidates with the total amount of GHc 1,750,000 from GN Bank,” the letter from EOCO stated.
