When President Mahama gave highlights of the NDC 2016 manifesto on Tuesday, he mentioned the creation of five regions; establishment of some development authorities; election of metropolitan, municipal and district chief executives.

But the NPP and its apparatchiks have come hard at the NDC government for stealing their ideas.

NPP’s leader Nana Akufo-Addo had previously said he will create a region out of the Western Region and among others set up about 3 development authorities for specific parts of the country.

This is not the first time the NPP is accusing the NDC of stealing and rebranding its ideas. It is for this reason why the party says it delayed the launch of its manifesto. But speaking to TV3’s Komla Klutse at Sunyani where the NDC launched its manifesto on Saturday September 17, 2016, Me.

Enoch Teye Mensah rejected the stealing tag. He believes it is by a sheer coincidence that the two leading political parties in Ghana are espousing the same ideas.

“We are talking about politics, and there is a saying that ‘great minds think alike’. So if by any stretch of imagination they think that we are talking about the same things that they have talked about, so be it,” he buried the argument.

Though the NDC could not achieve some of the policies outlined in the 2012 manifesto like the building of 10 colleges of education, Mr. E. T. Mensah is confident that the issues contained in the 2012 manifesto are achievable.

Touching on unemployment, he said it is an issue no government all over the world can totally solve, but was certain policies that the manifesto touches on will generate employment Meanwhile, the NPP says it will launch its campaign on October 18 after postponing it at least once.
