Samira Bawumia, the wife of the Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has urged Ghanaians to vote massively for the NPP to end untold hardship in the country.

According to her, under the leadership of President John Mahama, many Ghanaians have lost their jobs and livelihood which have worsened their plight.

To this end, she urged Ghanaians to teach the governing NDC a bitter lesson in the general elections slated for 7 December, 2016.

Mrs. Bawumia, who was speaking to members of the Zongo community in Ho, last Thursday, said that the NDC government was punishing Ghanaians through its ineffective and incompetent policies over the last eight years.

“We need to change the government and teach them (NDC) a lesson on December 7. Ghanaians want a government who will work for them,” she disclosed.

The three-day tour of Zongo communities in the Volta Region by Mrs. Bawumia started on Tuesday, August 23, 2016.

She visited South Tongu, Akatsi South, Agortime-Ziope, Ho, Adaklu constituencies, among others, to solicit votes for the NPP.

Mrs Bawumia said that Nana Akufo-Addo and her husband Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia would transform the country and alleviate the plight of the vulnerable and less privileged if given the nod.

She disclosed that “everyone is suffering, both the rich and the poor are suffering. The only people who are not suffering are the NDC people who are in government enjoying Ghanaians’ money and taking us for granted.”

She also advised Ghanaians to examine the track record of the NPP and also consider the future of their children when electing a president on December 7.

She said that “this election is very serious; it is about our future. It is not about the height of somebody. It is about someone who has the development of this country at heart and wants to expand this economy to create jobs. That’s what Nana Addo and my husband want to do for this country.

“The NPP has done it before: we introduced the National Health Insurance (NHIS) and Micro and Small Loans Schemes (MASLOC). The NDC is trumpeting this now although at the time, John Mahama and NDC members in Parliament walked out during the passage of the health insurance.

“We want to be in the position to feed our families and not depend on GH¢10 and a cup of rice from a politician only in election period,” she declared.

Mrs. Bawumia was accompanied by some regional executives of the NPP, including the Secretary, Joseph Homenya, Deputy Communications Director, Enoch Amegbletor and Women’s Organiser, Akusika Ocansey, among others.
