His Royal Majesty King (Dr.) Odaifio Welentsi III the Nungua Mantse and President of the Nungua Traditional Council has vented his spleen on political leaders who had disrespected Ga people, saying vote for those who don’t respect us as a people.

He stated that the Ga chiefs are furious over statements made by surrogates of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and urged them to apologize or forever hold their peace.

It would be recalled that the chairman of the Consumer Protection Agency Kofi Kapito at a point described Ga chiefs as useless.

On his part the minority leader had said that there is no high profile Ga in the NPP that can ascend to the position of a standard bearer in the party.

Former finance minister under President Kufuor was reported to have said that people from resource rich regions should be the ones ruling the people of Ghana.  These among many other statements from the NPP have not gone down well with the Chiefs and people of the Greater Accra region.

“Listen to what the political parties are saying.  I won’t tell you to vote for party A or B , but those who speak against the Ga -Dangme people should be rejected.”

The NPP MP for Assin North Kennedy Agyapong is reported to have said “Gãs should be killed because they are not educated”, among other dangerous hate speeches against the Chiefs and people of Ga- Dangme.

He said “those people who made those statements have not thought it wise to apologize and retract their ethnocentric statements. “For this reason, I am calling on my people to vote against those who hate us and thought that nothing good could come out of the Chiefs and people of Ga-Dagme.”

The Nungua Mantse made these known when the Chief of Staff, Mr Julius Debrah, paid a courtesy call on him at his palace as part of his five day tour of the Greater Accra region.

He advised the political parties especially the supporters of the NDC and the NPP to stick to the rules of the game and not do anything that could undermine the peace and unity of the nation, saying, “when 2 elephants fight it is the grass the suffers thus the need to be circumspect in their utterances and help build a just and fair society as the country inches to election 2016.

He also charged the security agencies to discharge their duties without fear or favor to guarantee the peace of the nation is jealously protected.

He admonished the Chiefs of the  Gã land to desist from endorsing Presidential candidates openly , but urged them to campaign secretly for the candidate of their choice.

On his part, the Chief of Staff who spoke in Ga explained that he  was in the palace on behalf of his boss, the President of the Republic of Ghana, who is seeking re election.

He urged them to vote for President Mahama and the NDC for economic empowerment, inclusion and partners to accelerate the country’s socio economic development as well as give the youth alternative livelihood programs aimed at generating massive employment.

The Chief of Staff, later visited the Gbobu Wolomo of Nungua before interacting with taxi drivers, traders, pure water sellers etc.

The Chief of Staff is accompanied by leading members of the NDC including Prof. Kwamena Ahwoi, madam Faustina Nelson, Dep. Communications Minister Hon. Ato Sarpong and presidential staffers Mawusi Dzirasa and Emilia Arthur and the former MP for Adenta Kojo Adu Asare.

The rest are deputy general secretary of the NDC Koku Anyidoho, Greater Accra regional Minister Nii Laryea Afortey Agbo, the greater Accra regional coordinator Sylvester Mensah, Greater Accra regional chairman Joseph Ade Coker among others.
