The embattled presidential nominee for the United Progressive Party (UPP), Kwasi Addai Odike, has thrown his weight behind the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo-Addo. Odike on Wednesday, formally informed the Electoral Commission (EC) that he is backing out of the 2016 presidential election.

Mr. Odike who was among the 13 presidential aspirants disqualified by the EC, withdrew from the presidential race on personal grounds. According to reports, the Commission disqualified him due to a suit at the Court brought by a section of the UPP, against some unacceptable internal party politics.

But the ex UPP flagbearer has said he ditched his presidential ambition, due to frustration by the Electoral Commission and its Chairperson, Charlotte Osei.

Speaking to Accra-based Onua FM, Odike endorses Nana Addo saying he will hold a press conference on Monday, November 14, to invite smaller political parties; to join him in his bid to campaign for the NPP and its flagbearer, to unseat President Mahama and the incumbent party.

Speaking further, Odike said that Ghana needs someone like Nana Addo who can help the country move forward. He called on other opposition parties to come together to vote out the NDC in the coming elections. He noted that just like Americans have changed their government, Ghanaians must also vote to change theirs.

Nana Addo has been getting lots of endorsements form reputable people in the society. In the course of their campaign tours, the NPP garnered lots of endorsements and support, from notable people as well as residents of several constituencies.
