[UPDATE] – Arrested and Humiliated Ebola Ghanaian Student Tested Negative for Ebola

A Ghanaian student in Czech Republic arrested, forced into a suffocating black polythene bag, wheeled away in a trolley and dumped into a bus has tested negative for ebola, the Ghana Mission in the Czech Republic has confirmed.
The student, whose identity is yet to be disclosed, was isolated for several hours in what appears to be an excruciating, thoroughly humiliating episode as Czech authorities desperately take precautionary measures against ebola.
The student was only suffering from common cold, the Health Ministry at the Czech Republic stated.
He had successfully been screened at the Czech Airport on Saturday night and allowed to go through, only to be picked up again at the train station by a man in hazard garments and taken through the dehumanizing episode.
The video of the Ghanaian victim went viral on youtube, Tuesday morning.
Ghana’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Zita Okaikoi, told Joy News the mission was “quite shocked” at the incident but added it should be a “lesson” for all West Africans.
She said the victim was arrested together with two others who were also quarantined for some time.
According to Okaikoi, the victim is “highly traumatised.” She will be paying him a visit to offer any help he may need.
She said even though it is only Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone and Nigeria who have recorded the Ebola Virus, the Europeans are profiling all citizens from West Africa because of the fear for ebola.
She said with Spain and other countries abroad contracting the disease, the Czech Republic has taken the issue pretty much seriously.
While she intends to file a protest against the Czech authorities for the inhumane treatment meted out to the Ghanaian, she believes the “Czech authorities will say they were taking [Ebola] precautions.”
Zita Okaikoi is asking all Ghanaian travelers to be “alert” and be ready for things like this.
