Management of UEW-K has introduced what they termed as a “flexible payment system” where students facing challenges can make part payment of approved fees and partake in examinations that will be conducted by the University’s academic board.

But some students are at the throat of their leadership and have accused them of shielding information from the larger populace of the students regarding an amount of Hundred Ghana Cedis they were asked to pay by the authorities.

The aggrieved students find activities of the management and the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) illegal and therefore have petitioned the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) to look into the matter.

A letter sighted by mynewsgh.com’s Kwabena Danso-Dapaah to the BNI stated numerous concerns by the students in the school which became imperative for security agencies to intervene including the following; “Students who could not pay their fees in full last semester were asked to write an application through their Heads of Department to the College Finance Office for onward approval before registration. Students were ambushed as officials of the registration demanded an amount of GH¢50.00 from each student who made part payment of fees last semester. Students have been forced to pay GH¢150.00 before they can register courses for the next semester. Students went to register this semester and have to pay GH¢10.00 for a chit”

Several attempts to get officials of the University to respond to these the allegations have proven futile as authorities say they are waiting to hear from the BNI.
