The Minister of Education Mathew Opoku Prempeh on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo hosted by Kwame Adinkra on Thursday called for the dismissal of the two following police assault on students of the Kumasi Technical Institute (KTI) on Tuesday.

Surprisingly, the two have been transferred to their various hometowns as suggested by the Minister but it is unclear if they were kicked out of the region due to the minister’s pronouncements or otherwise.

ASP Tanko is heading to Tamale in the Northern region whiles Supt Klomegah goes to Aveyime district in the Volta region.

Residents in the region are asking if the transfer is a mere coincidence or came up as a result of the minister’s statement on Abusua FM published by Ultimatefmonline.com.

‘He should have told us the truth so that a warning or an advise would have been given, but he lied about the incident, how can such a person continue to wear police uniform, but I am not surprised, Klormegah is the same person who brutalised some people in Kenyase. ASP Tanko too just goes about peddling falsehood.

No civilian has reported to the police that his/her car was smashed by the students, the police in Asokwa are even surprised that he and other police went to the dormitories of KTI when he wasn’t in charge. I am not saying that when children go wayward, they shouldn’t be punished, but it should be done the right way. I will write a letter to the IGP to sack ASP Tanko and Supt Klormegah. I will go on a demonstration if they are not transferred or sacked,’the minister fumed.

ASP Tanko is number 44 whiles Supt Klomegah is placed 30 on the list of police transferred.

In an interview with Ultimatefmonline.com, ASP Tanko could not admit if his transfer is in connection with the minister’s pronouncements.

‘You should ask the IGP for my transfer, he signed the letter, he can give reasons, besides transfers are part of the police,’ he explained.

All efforts to reach Supt Klomegah proved futile as his phone was unanswered.

Other police officers have also been transferred to other regions by the Acting Inspector General of Police, David Asante-Apeatu.

The service failed to give reasons for their transfers.
